As Lethbridge's most experienced golf professional, Chris has the necessary skills to help any level of golfer improve their game. Golf is meant to be FUN, so if you're struggling come see Chris today.
Brief Golfing Career History I have been a PGA member since 1967 and have been fully qualified since 1970. From 1967 to 1972 I worked at the Stoneham Golf Club in Southampton, England. I played in local golf tournaments from 1968, finishing 3rd in the first event I played in.
My first PGA tour event was the Dutch Open played in Eindhoven, Holland. (Finished tied 31st) The Hampshire PGA was very active as a playing county with over 30 Pro-Ams and 5 Pro only events each year. Generally, I played in most of those events each year and also played in the Open Qualifying and the Sourthern PGA Championship. Over the years I've won quite a few Pro-Ams and placed in the top three on most occasions. In 1972/1973 I played 8 European Tour events each year.
In 1976 I became the Manager/Head Professional at the Tylney Park Golf Club. During this time I played in all the local events and also managed to get in the odd tour event (mainly the Dutch Open). As the only teaching professional at Tylney Park, my weeks were very busy helping people improve their game. I generally averaged 35 hours a week just giving lessons.
When I reached 50 I played in the Club Professional Seniors Championship, I was leading after the first round and eventually finished 11th. Since then I've qualified every other year. The highlight of my playing career was when I qualified for the British Seniors Open played at the Turnberry Golf Club in Scotland. This was the first time the Tournament qualified as a Champions tour event, so all my golfing heroes were playing, including: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player.
Since moving to Canada I have been teaching at Bridge Valley Golf and following the 2010 season I became the Manager of the facility. As well as teaching the regulars, I also coach the University Golf Team. Teaching is my way of giving something back to the game that has given me so much pleasure and a living doing something I enjoy.
My strength in teaching is to get players to achieve the most they can from what their bodies will allow them to do. If doesn't matter how experienced or inexperienced a golfer is, if they want help with their game, I can help. Most golfers only need small adjustments to get them to the next level.
I firmly believe that you should always have fun when golfing. If you're not having fun then stop struggling and come see me for help.
